The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced last week that it would begin to explore approaches for tightening its regulations dealing with rising acidity levels in oceans, which pose a serious threat to shellfish and other marine life. “Protection of the nation’s water quality, including the health of our ocean waters, is among EPA’s highest priorities,” the agency said in a statement.
